Quest Diagnostics’
Corporate Counsel Lee Braem was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” by
Visiting Health Services of Union County, at the charity’s annual
meeting and awards ceremony on April 16, 2003.
Visiting Health
Services of Union County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
providing high quality, compassionate in-home health care and
support services to individuals and families in times of illness or
disability. According to Anita Weinberg, the Executive Director of
Visiting Health Services of Union County, Mr. Braem was selected as
Volunteer of the Year in recognition of the many hours of pro bono
legal assistance he provided the charity on health care regulation
compliance, specifically, the Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (“HIPAA”). Mr. Braem’s work in the legal
department of Quest Diagnostics includes responsibility for HIPAA
compliance in addition to general health care law, managed care
contracts and environmental legal matters.
Mr. Braem provided
pro bono legal assistance to Visiting Health Services of Union
County as a result of his participation in the Pro Bono
Partnership’s business transactional pro bono program. Mr.
Braem has handled a total of eleven pro bono matters through
the Partnership on behalf of seven different nonprofits in
New Jersey. Mr. Braem was previously recognized as the Pro Bono
Partnership’s 2002 Volunteer of the Year.
